II. Summary
MultiTech is releasing new ordering part numbers for the SocketModem® Cell cellular embedded modem products listed in this announcement. These new ordering part numbers contain an updated revision of the cellular radio module. This change is in response to an End-of-Life of the cellular radio currently used in the existing MTSMC-L4N1 .R1A and .R2 ordering part numbers. The existing ordering part numbers (.R1A and .R2 models) are changing status from generally available to Near-End-of-Life (NEOL) effective immediately.
The core functionality of the new ordering part numbers has not changed.

Please note: The new ordering part numbers (.R3) are replacing a duplicate set of existing ordering part numbers. The .R1A ordering part numbers are original SocketModem hardware with data centric firmware. The .R2 ordering part numbers are a component shortage board revision along with the same data centric firmware found in the .R1A models. The new .R3 ordering part numbers will use the newer SocketModem hardware with the new cellular radio version. While the core functionality of all these ordering part numbers is the same, MultiTech recommends customers test the new ordering part numbers in their application to ensure compatibility.

Hardware change
Introduction of new RF switches to address global supply chain issues.
The alternative components are pin-to-pin compatible, the cellular radio module PCB remains unchanged.
Therefore, form, fit, function, and the cellular radio module specification is not affected.

- Forward this announcement to others within your organization who may be impacted by this announcement.
- Work with your MultiTech reseller or distributor to obtain samples.
- Limited availability of existing (NEOL) ordering part numbers.
